This story was dedicated to my mom!

I woke up with the noise of my alarm, screeching at my ear to wake up. I roll over to the other side of the bed. I didn’t want to go to school today, not today not ever. Eventually I get up and go straight to the bathroom. I try to turn on the lights but they won’t turn on so I have to get ready in the dark.
I have long brown hair and green eyes as the colors of a forest. I put my hair in a tight ponytail and wear no makeup. I look outside and see a tree has fallen to its roots. The weather has been very destructive in the past year or two. Our weather in the the world have made a jurassic difference.

Since 2050 our country has had many dysfunctional changes with the weather. New York, New York is gone due to floods. Florida has hurricanes almost every year and can’t fix it due to money. In this town Allen, Nevada it’s been normal for the most part. Strong winds, heavy rain and dust storms, and floods have been in Allen, Nevada. Allen has been through some of the small changes even though most of the world has had some big changes to our weather for the last ten to twenty years.

Slowly I get out of the bathroom and see my mom on her broken down chair. My mom is listening to the radio to hear what the weather is going to be like. “All of Nevada should take cover for this mighty toronado, maybe the biggest one in the country.” the radio man said loud enough for me to hear in the back. “Stay in your house, lock the doors, get in a safe spot, and centeraly do not go outside.” The radio man keeps on saying that over and over again. I didn’t listen to the last part because the radio can’t always be right.
“Hi honey.” Mom said when she finally looked away from the radio. “Hey mom.” I reply “I don’t think you should go to school today because of what the radio said.” mom said worried for me and herself. “momI don’t think we should listen to the radio so much, the radio can’t always be righ-.” before I could speak anymore we heard sirens repeatedly. Mom looks and me, concerned for me and her. I ran to our safety room (which is our worn down second bathroom) and I motion my mom to come near me. Mom looks at me and slowly gets up and runs outside. I run outside to bring her back to the house even if I have to drag her.
My head is spinning once I woke up with a massive bruise on my arm. I get up on my knees only to see destruction all around me. No trees, no animal no plants. I only saw my mom 40 yards away from me. I get up only to be more dizzy and get to my mom as fast as I can. As I approach my mom I see blood all over her body. “No..” I say while I finally saw what happened. A chunk of wood was stuck in her stomach. I start crying and crying for many hours, she helped me. Mary saved me.
My parents died in a car crash when I was 2. My grandparents were too old to take care of me so I was set up for adoption. Only 8 years later and a woman named Mary lynn took me in. Mary had short blond hair, blue eyes and was always happy. Mary was 42 when she adopted me. Mary took me under her wing and helped me be successful in life. Mary always wanted me do succeed but her health declined when I was 13. Mary always thrown up, had a bad cough, and have fevers all the time. It was at that time I needed to worry about her than she being worried about me. I took care of her until this day, the day that Mary Lynn died.
Hours later at night and I’m still right next to her. I thought of how I could make my mom still happy. I had an idea: go to California and find help for me to be safe. I made plans for tomorrow I will leave to go to California to find help. I wished to be saved.
The next morning I woke up ready to go to find help. I told myself to walk about 6-7 miles a day and will only take me about 12 days to get there. I walk until sunset. I found a tree that looked comfortable to sleep on. I get closer to the tree but it starts downpouring and i dash to the tree. I choose a spot and laid down and slowly fell asleep.
