The game of baseball is played with nine players in the field and nine players hitting.

In the field: there are three outfields that play near the fence, four infielders that play behind the pitcher’s mound, a pitcher, and then finally a catcher that sits behind the plate.

Johnny was about to play baseball for the first time. Johnny had only ever thrown in his backyard hoping to play the game sometime soon. Little did he know that his first game is next week.

On the way to his game he couldn’t stop talking about how excited he was. He arrived at the game thirty minutes before it was supposed to start. He stretched and began to warm up.

Once it was time to hit, his dad threw him some balls to practice. Now it was game time. Johnny really wanted to pitch and luckily enough, his coach had him pitching in this game.
