Once upon a time,
before any life ever existed, there was a girl known as Sun.
Sun was a beautiful girl with a pure heart and good intentions. She had long, golden hair and eyes that shine like stars. Everything in the entire solar system loved and adored her.
She lived a perfect simple life, with no responsibilities.
Except she felt as if she were missing something bigger.
She was alone. She had no purpose, no one to talk to and no place to call home.
Until one day as Sun was aimlessly traveling across the cosmos, she stumbled upon a boy. A boy named Moon.
Moon had slightly pale skin with hair as dark as the vast void of space. But, his eyes resembled broken, lost stars drifting away just like Sun.
He was also alone and the second that Sun saw him, she knew that he was the one who she wanted to spend the rest of her days with.
Sun also noticed that Moon was circling a decrepit, broken old planet that was black and gray with ash. This planet was known as 'Earth.'
"What happened?" Sun asked as she came closer and closer to Moon.
"Earth has died. It knows no warmth, only cold. I've been circling this planet for eons, hoping it would somehow come alive again. But, my rays alone are not enough to keep it alive." Moon looked to Sun, and she understood how much he cared for this broken little planet.
"Maybe I could help then." Sun said as she stepped into Earth's atmosphere. Moon watched with interest as the Earth was suddenly thriving with life. It happened the second Sun stepped closer to the planet.
"Who are you?" Moon asked as Sun turned back to face him.
"I'm Sun." She extended her hand to him.
On that day, life changed for Sun and Moon. For starters, they weren't alone anymore. The universe was certainly different, maybe even a little bit brighter.
With each passing day, Sun and Moon tried to see each other as often as possible. But, in order to keep Earth alive, they could rarely see each other let alone speak.
Every day, they would rise and fall for the other. At night, Sun would go down so Moon could live and in the morning, Moon would fall so that Sun could live.
This cycle continued for many long years. Sun and Moon would circle the Earth and rise and fall for each other every day and night.
This cycle caused peace amongst the stars, there was balance in the universe again.
Sun and Moon grew to love each other more and more as each year passed all though they could never touch, nor speak. There were a few moments during eclipses, where they could talk briefly and say hello, but all other connections were cut off.
Other than that, they were mostly happy living the way they were living.
Until one day, Moon noticed Sun was a little less bright than usual. He thought nothing of it and continued to orbit around the Earth.
Little did Moon know, he should have paid more attention to Sun's condition. Because she was slowly dying.
