Hi, I'll be your tour guide for this book. I'll take you throughout the world history from the past and the present!

There is a specific way to find places on the Earth. It is called longitude and latitude! Longitude is going up and down on a globe, and latitude goes right and left on a globe!

Geography

Economy

This map shows the world's GDP. GDP stands for Gross Domestic Product. It basically means how much money a country has and makes. The darker the country is, the more money they have overall. There is also something called GDP per capita. It just means if everyone made the same amount of money, it would be how much they make.

The first type of government I'll teach you about is a democracy. Democracy means that the people get to vote on laws and leaders. They get to vote for almost everything political.

Government Types

The next type of government is a monarchy. A monarch is a king or queen. In this type of government, the country is completely ruled by the monarch.

The last type of government to teach you is a dictatorship. This is where there is one leader who does everything. He/she dictates, or controls, wherever they lead.

Acculuration is when one idea is accepted into a culture, but changed a little. Rugby is an example because it is a mix between soccer and football.

Culture

Cultral Diffusion is the next culture point. It is when one idea from one culture is transported to another culture. Some examples would be Mcdonald's in other countries and Coca-Cola in other countries.

The first major religion to teach you is Judaism. They are monotheistic, which means they believe in one god. It started in 1800 B.C.E., and has 14 million followers, called Jews. Its founder is Abraham, its holy book is called a Torah, and their god is named Yaweh.

Religion

The next major religion is Christianity. This religion is monotheistic, with 2.1 billion followers. That's 21 with eight zeros! Its founder is Jesus Christ. Their followers are called Christians, their holy book is called the Bible, and their god is called God.

The next major relgion is Islam. It is monotheistic, and has 1.5 billion followers. It started in 610 C.E. Its followers are called Muslims, its God is called Allah, and its holy book is called the Qur'an.

The last religion to teach you is Hinduism. It was created around 4,000 years ago, and it doesn't have one single founder. It has about 900 million followers, all called Hindus. Its holy books are called Vedas, and its god is called Brahman.

River Civilizations

The first of three river civilizations to teach you about is ancient Egypt. This was the second of the three civilizations around. The Egyptians created things like mummies. They also created the scructures behind me. The pyramid is over 400 feet tall! That's taller than the Statue of Liberty!

The next civilization is Mesopotamia. It was the first civilization around, Mesopotamia was in present Middle East. They created something called Hammurabi's Code. It was a list of laws and rules created by King Hammurabi that the citizens within the country had to follow. They also had a math system based off the number 60.

The last of three cizilizations is the Indus Valley. This was where present India is now. They built their civilization around the Ganghes and Indus rivers. They had a writing system, but we can't read it. Nobody knows how this dynasty fell. It might have been an earthquake or a massive flood.

The next dynasty is the Zhou dynasty. They were one of the most important dynasties in Chinese culture. They wrote down laws and began construction on the Great Wall of China. They also switched from bronze tools to iron tools for farming puposes.

Age of Empires

The next dynsaty is the Mongols Dynasty. This dynasty is one of the greatest. They had one of the strongest militaries ever, led by a guy named Genghis Khan. He was very brutal and great at war.
