The Lunar Cycle

"How many of you like to look at the moon at night?" Ms. Evans asks her students. Almost all raise their hands. Except Tara.

"Okay class, let's go in the classroom. I will have to leave for a doctors appointment soon so y'all will have a substitute." Ms. Evans informs the class. Tara grudges. "Tara, get your act together. I won't hesitate to leave you out here." Ms. Evans tells her. The class snickers.

"What even is a Lunar Cycle?" Alana asks. "A Lunar Cycle is the moon's shape when the sunlight hits it." Ms. Evans responds.

"What is the first phase of the moon?" Gunnar asks. "The first phase of the moon is called a new moon. A new moon occurs when the sun and moon are aligned and you see the silhouette of a moon." Ms. Evans says.

"The second phase of the moon is called a waxing gibbous. Can anyone tell me what this looks like?" *crickets* "Okay, well, it is half lit up and half not, like this." Ms. Evans stated.

"The third phase of the moon is the beginning of the first quarter. The first quarter occurs when the moon is between the Earth and the Sun." Ms. Evans says.

"Hello, I am Mrs. Legs. I will be substituting for your class today."
