Chapter One
My Used To Be Perfect Life
Hey, my name is Emma Johnson, I am 12 years old. My life was perfect until last summer. My parents got divorced, they always used to get in fight about the most stupid things. So they thought it was the right decision. After that, my life wasn’t the greatest. I missed my dad so much. I barely get to see him. One of my brothers moved in an apartment in California for University, but my other brother still lives with me. His name is Noah, he is 5 years old. I can’t believe that he is that annoying at such a young age.
I didn’t want to get out of bed because it’s Saturday. I knew my mom was going to wake me up sooner or later so I may as well get a head start. I slowly dragged myself out of bed and down stairs into the kitchen. My mom was standing with her pink apron on making chocolate chip
pancakes. “Go sit down at the table Emma, I have something important to tell you,” my mom said. “I have been thinking about this for awhile now,” my mom said in a stern voice. “We are moving to a small town in Idaho called Ketchum,” my mom said.
“What!” I screamed.
“Grandma used to live there! I know this is going to be hard on you, but this house is way too small for the three of us. We just can’t live here.” My mom mentioned.
“I am going to lose all my friends and I have lived here all my life. I can’t leave now,” I told my mom, trying to keep in my anger.
“I will tell your brother when he wakes up, I am sure he will react the same way,” my mom said.
I walked upstairs and started getting ready. I decided to go for a walk to calm down. The big news shocked me. I started thinking about life in Idaho.
After my walk, I ran upstairs to my room and I searched “Idaho” on my computer. I was interested in what the scenery might be like. There were lots of pictures of mountains. I love mountains, they are so pretty. I still am not happy about moving. I have never moved before so I don’t know what to expect. My mom said that we will be moving in 2 weeks. So I should make the next two weeks at my school the best. One thing that I am kind of happy about is that I get to go to a new school. Sometimes I feel like I don’t belong at my school. Even though I have lots of friends, there are still people who bully me.
Chapter Two
Moving Day
Today is the day. We are finally moving. I had everything packed and ready to go. As I left the driveway, I had one more look at the house I grew up in. With my mom and my dad and my brother. That house had some good memories. I looked down the road and saw all my friends waving and saying, “We will miss you Emma!” I am going to miss them so much!
The ride was long, after 23 hours of a complete nightmare I saw the sign that said IDAHO. We’re here finally. In the middle of New Mexico Noah kept saying, “I am the ghost of I-do-co and I am here to steal your soul.” After we left, he watched this stupid ghost movie and now he is pretending to be a ghost.
Anyway, when we arrived at the house it was not what I was expecting. It had a huge porch with lots of flowers. The door was dark brown and it had lots of windows. Then, when you walked in there was an old grand staircase. I have never seen one in person before. The house was beautiful!
My mom drove my brother and I to our new school so we could see what it looked like. Monday was going to be my first day of school and hopefully I could get up early and do a nice braid in my hair. I couldn’t sleep that night. I was so excited, it’s not like me to be excited for school.
My room was another story. When you walked in there are 2 windows and a white drawer with a mirror between them. To the left is a pink chair with a zebra carpet. I know it sounds tacky, but it really looked nice with the rest of the room. On the right side was my queen sized bed - it
had about 10 pillows and pink covers with a white nightstand that had all of my pictures. Across from my bed was another drawer which had all my makeup and jewelry. All this stuff came with the house except my jewelry, pictures, and my clothes.
