The Baroque period covered the 17th and 18th centuries. It was more beautifull than Rennaisance. They exagerated all.
Bernini's Baldaquino in San Pedro del Vaticano is one of the most famous art work in this period.

Baroque art included architecture, paint, sculpture and music.




Baroque period in music was very inportant and there were a lot of very important composers in Europe from Italy (Monteverdi, Corelli and Vivaldi), Germany (Haendel and Bach), England (Purcell), France (Rameau).




In these period, music was a powerful potent tool in communication, like in the Rennaisance and composers became increasingly aware of music's potential power. (aware of potential power of music)
Music had three main patronajes (patrons): The church, the monarchy and the new middle class.



Contrast as a dramatic element:
Differencesbetween loud and soft, solo and ensemble, different instruments...
Monody and the advent of the basso continuo:
Melody and harmony began to be articulated.
Different instrumental sounds:
several instruments were developed for the needs of the orchesta.
