The five-pointed stars arranged in an X pattern centered in the white band represent the five nations of the former Federal Republic of Central America (El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala) and the hope that the nations may form a union again.

Food

Honduran cuisine is a fusion of local, Spanish, Caribbean and African cuisine. 

Coconut and coconut milk are featured in both sweet and savory dishes. Regional specialties include fried fish, tamales, pastalito and chicken with gravy. Tacos, Sopa de frijoles, Carneada, Rice and beans, Fried Yojoa fish, Baleada, and Corn tortillas are just a few of the traditional Honduran dishes.

Traditional Clothing

The traditional clothing that is worn in Honduras is mainly used in festivals and certain celebrations. The women wear long dress which are handmade with different colors. The men usually wear all white clothing, a white-button shirt, white pants but also wear a red scarf and a sombrero.

Popular Games

Hondurans play sandlot baseball--called bate (BAH-tay) in Honduras. They fly kites, play with tops and ride bikes. The most popular games played by children are Sack Race, Statues, Carry the Chick and Tunnel Crawl. However, Honduras's best-loved game--the favorite of kids and adults--is soccer (futbol, FUTE-bawl), one of the most popular sports in the world.
