The Kingdoms of Life divides all living organisms into five kingdoms: Monera (bacteria), Protista(one-celled organism), Fungi, Plants, and Animals. Before this categorization, there were two main divisions: Prokaryotic (bacteria) and the Eukaryota (animals, plants, fungi, and protists). Basically, every living thing on Earth can be put into one of the 5 categories or groups.
Introduction

Animal Kingdom

To be in this kingdom, you must be an animal and fit these requirements.
- -respond to the environment or home
- -grow or change
- -are made of cells
- -gas exchange(breathing)
- -are able to die
- -eat/drink
- -keep a good body temperature
- -reproduce

Animals have to:
- -eat
- -drink
- -breathe
- -grow or change
- -made of cells

Did you know that some animals eat other animals!

Plant Kingdom
The Plant Kingdom (or Plantae Kingdom) is made up of all the plants that you see each day. Different types of plants include trees, grass, and flowers. They can be smaller than your fingernail, or taller than 300 feet! That is more than 28 school buses stacked on top of each other!

Wow! I didn't realize there was so many types of plants!

Plant Kingdom
All plants start as a seed, and then grow until they reach their full size. They do not eat other plants or animals, but gain energy and nutrients from the sun. This process is called photosynthesis. Plants take the energy from the Sun and transform it into nutrients, or food.

Protist Kingdom
Protozoans, algae, and slime molds belong to a group of living things called protists, or protoctists. Protists are not animals, plants, fungi, or bacteria. ... There are thousands of different species, or types, of protists. Most protists are made of one cell, and a few are made of many cells.

Protists come in all shapes and sizes!
