Hi, my name is Jamarion Rainey and I am a Third Grader. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2015 and my life has changed ever since. Let me tell you about my story.

I Love to read but sometimes...my mind takes me to other places when I try to concentrate. I learned that I have ADHD!
What is ADHD?

Do you have trouble controlling your anger?
Is it a struggle to keep things organized? Do you sometimes have trouble making friends or even getting along with others? Do you have trouble sitting still?
Do you have trouble paying attention in class?
If you answered YES, then this book is for you and I might have the Key!
Ever since I was a little baby, my parents read me plenty of books.
However, I couldn't keep my mind on the books because I would think of so many things at once.
It was as if I had to stay busy all of the time until it was time for bed.I don't know what happened or what changed but I couldn't sit still, even at school. Sometimes, I would flick my pencil against the desk or make paper airplanes just to make the time pass by.

When the summer was over, and school begin, I was ready to learn. It was my first year as a first grader and I was excited until my brain begin to drift off during class. It was only the first week of school and I was already in the Principals office for talking, playing and not being able to sit still. This impacted my learning a great deal and kept me all year from instructional time.
"What’s wrong with me?" I thought to myself.

"You're so dumb!" Tiffany yelled. "Why would you say that?" I asked.
Tiffany hurt my feelings when she said that to me and I didn't know what to say.
"I don't like sitting next to you because you're always getting into trouble and I can't hear the teacher," she replied.

Having ADHD can be a real challenge and not only when it comes to school work. ADHD can impact how you get along with other people, social skills, making friends, participation in projects and sometimes it feels as if someone is always angry with you.Its exactly how I feel everyday because I am always on punishment and I am always into it with my brother and sister. Mostly because when we are home I get rather bored in which I play with things that don't belong to me.I just want to go back to the times where every one loved me and I could control myself. I miss my family so much but I feel like everyone is angry with me.
After a few months of meetings with my mom, teacher and the doctor we discovered that I had ADHD. I didn't really understand it but mom placed me into sports until I found out what I loved to play.I felt less angry and more apart of something that kept me busy.
I gained confidence in school and sports. My mother tried a pill as well recommended from the doctor and it seemed to really help me focus and help me to sit still as well.

Could I pull off graduating 1st grade
after such a rough year?

Tiffany and I became the best of friend's after our teacher made us do a book report together. We learned great things about each other and she apologized to me. We begin to work together in all class assignments.

I finally felt apart of something.

I no longer stayed in trouble at home for messing with my little sister or brother because my mom kept my brain stimulated with games and You tube learning videos.
I watched a lot of videos from children all over the world who had ADHD just like me. However, the pill that I was taking begin to make me sleepy and very drowsy at school. My parents decided to take me off the pills and keep me busy by staying in sports, school activities and things that I loved to do.I did my homework after school and flew my drone for an hour when I was bored or I played with my siblings.

I passed 1st grade and had a great summer. My parents took me back to the doctor for ideas on how to help me better. The doctor informed them that certain types of foods can worsen symptoms of ADHD in children and even adults. An ADHD diet ensures getting levels of the right foods so the brain can function correctly. Food rich in protein can be beneficial, eating less candy and starting off your day with breakfast. After a summer of my new diet, I was ready for another great year.

ADHD
It is part of who you are, not who you are. After being more active in school, sports, and my parents applying my diet to my daily life; I became better than ever!

No matter what disorder you have; we can still achieve our goals. Don t ever let anyone tell you that you cant. Do you know why? Because you have, The Key! I am now in the third grade, with ADHD and I am still a star student. I am as normal as anyone and I can do anything my mind is set to do!
This book is dedicated to my Papa James Rainey, Sr who went to heaven on June 22, 2016. I miss you papa. Always and forever, thank you for being here for me since day one. You will never be Forgotten. I miss going fishing with you and riding with you to the horse races.
