This book is for EDRD 4304-70 at WTAMU fall 2018.

Today we are going to learn how to assemble an alto saxophone. Let's get started shall we?
First we need to go over the parts of the saxophone.
The parts are (from left to right)
Neck strap
Mouthpiece
Reed
Ligature
Neck
And the body

The first thing we need to do is put on the neck strap as shown in the picture. It is always the first thing we do when assembling the instrument. While you are putting the rest of the instrument together, you can place the reed inside your mouth to begin soaking it.

Next, pick up the body of the saxophone. You will want to connect the neck strap to the ring on the back side of the instrument as shown.

Next take out the neck. The neck fits into the top of the body. Be sure to loosen the screw at the top of the body BEFORE putting the neck in.
Once you have put the neck in, tighten the screw back.

Next, take out the mouth piece. The mouthpiece will go onto the cork part of the neck as shown, but we won't put it on just yet.
