To my mom

Oliver was a black cat, Oliver didn't like new pets or new people. One day, Oliver's owner, Mia, got a puppy. "Look, Oliver! A puppy!" Oliver looked at the puppy and hissed. "Oliver! That is no way to greet a guest!" Mia snapped. Oliver wasn't happy.
Mia said, "Now, why don't you play with him?" Oliver hissed again. Mia said, "Stop that! Say hi to Freddie." Mia already knew they wouldn't get along.

They would fight over food and toys. Mia tried to get them to like each other, but Oliver never liked Freddie, and Freddie never like Oliver.
