Once upon a time there was a little girl. She had long, curly, golden hair that she tied up with the finest ribbon in all the village. Her name was Goldilocks.

One day Goldilocks was playing by herself in the forest that surrounded her quaint little village when she lost track of time. The sun had already begun to set by the time she realized that she had ventured much too far off the path. She knew there was going to be no way to find her way back home before nightfall.

During her panic regarding what she would do for the night, she spied a light in the near distance. “That must be a front door lantern,” she said to herself. “Surely they will be able to help me if I ask nicely!” And without a second thought she ran off towards the light to see if it could help her.

When Goldilocks arrived at the light, she found the light belonged to a cozy looking cottage. Even though the door was cracked slightly, and she could easily just walk inside, she decided to knock on the door three times *tap tap tap*.

To Goldilocks’ surprise a large bear opened up the door with a friendly smile on her face asking, “Now little girl, what may I help you with?”
Goldilocks responded, “Mrs. Bear, I got lost while playing and cannot find my way back to my home now that the sun is gone. May I please stay with you for the night?”
“Oh of course you may, come on in we were just sitting down to eat some porridge,” Mama Bear replied letting her into the house.

Inside the house sat two more bears, Papa Bear and Baby Bear, and three bowls of porridge. Papa Bear offered Goldilocks a taste of his porridge. “Oh my, thank you, but that is much too hot!” Goldilock explained.
Mama Bear then gave Goldilocks a bite of her porridge. “Oh goodness, thank you, but that is much too cold!” Goldilocks shivered.
Finally Baby Bear said, “I can never eat all of this porridge. Would you like some?”
With a smile Goldilocks accepted the bite and exclaimed, “Thank you for sharing Baby Bear, this tastes just right!”

After dinner the bears explained to Goldilocks how they like to sit around the fireplace and relax for a little while before heading to bed. There were only three rocking chairs by the fireplace, so Mama Bear first offered Goldilocks her chair to sit in.

It was much too big for Goldilocks, she could not even get into it by herself. Papa Bear then offered her his chair, but it was even bigger than Mama Bear’s chair so Goldilocks said, “Thank you both, but I’m much too small to fit in your chairs!”

Then she turned and asked, “Baby Bear, may I please try your chair?”
Baby Bear replied, “Of course, I’ll just sit on Mama Bear’s lap!”
Goldilocks sat down in Baby Bear’s chair, but before she could say anything, the chair buckled beneath her. She was just a little too big for the chair.

Goldilocks was so embarrassed that this happened that she started crying saying, “I am so sorry Baby Bear! Please let me make it up to you! When I go back home tomorrow, you can take one of the chair from my house. My papa is really good at building chairs, you can pick one out.”
