To my amazing professor,
Dr. O'Quinn!

Hey there! My name is Pluto.
I am here to take you on your first trip through the solar system!
Our solar system is made up of 8 different planets.
Their names are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Here is what they look like in order from the sun.

First is Mercury.
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.
It is also the smallest planet in our solar system.
Mercury is known as a "Terrestrial Planet" because it is made up of rocks.
Next is Venus.
This is the 2nd planet closest to the sun.
Venus is the brightest and hottest of all the planets.
The surface of Venus has thousands of volcanoes, craters and super-high mountain ranges. It is considered another "terrestrial planet."

Planet Earth

Earth is a special planet because this is where we live!
It is the only planet where life is known to currently exist.
It is the 3rd planet from the sun.
Earth is 70% water. That is more than half of the planet covered in water!
Earth goes around or orbits the sun in 365 days, which means 1 year on earth is 365 days.
MARS
This is the 4th planet from the sun.
Mars is red in color and is one of the coldest planets in our solar system.
It is known to have storms that go across the entire planet!

So far, we have visited Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
There are still four more planets to go, but I wanted to take a quick stop and show you what our solar system looks like with the planets we have already seen.
