I was not only President Kennedy's Attorney General, I was also his closest adviser and confidant. As a result of this unique relationship, the Attorney General played a key role in several important foreign policy decisions. During the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, for instance, I helped develop the Kennedy administration's strategy to blockade Cuba instead of taking military action that could have led to nuclear war. I then negotiated with the Soviet Union on removal of the weapons.

During the first few days of the missile crisis I didn't led the way in arguing that a blockade of Cuba that instead of a military approach we would accomplish this in a safer and better way. That assertion was first made by secretary of defense Robert McNamar.

I feel like this was the most dangerous confrontation the world has faced in this point, the crisis occurred at the height of Cold War.
