*This date is now observed as Flag Day throughout 

America.

*The number of stars represent one star for each of 

the 50 states.

*The stripes represent the 13 original colonies.

*The flag means the spirit of liberty and human 

freedom

*The name "OLD GLORY" was given to our National 

Flag on August 10, 1831. 

Bald Eagles

* The bald eagle was chosen June 20, 1782 as the 

emblem of the United States of America

*The eagle was chosen because of its long life, 

great strength and majestic looks

* A full-grown Bald Eagle has a wingspan of up to 7 

feet.

*The eagle is on the American quarter coin, we see 

an eagle with outspread wings. 

*The eagle is native to North America
