Hello, my name is Ian. I work at a factory on 

the assembly line (tRNA). We build wooden 

cabinets in this factory (ribosome). Beside me 

is a cabinet that I made this morning. I'll 

show you around the factory and you can see 

what I do. Follow along!

This is my boss's (DNA) office upstairs. He is 

the one who receives the instructions (mRNA) 

for me and my fellow coworkers to build a new 

cabinet. He photocopies the instructions 

(transcription) and sends them down to the 

assembly line.

Now, down here we have all the materials 

(amino acids) we need to build our cabinets. 

When the instructions arrive here in the 

factory, we will begin to collect all the 

materials we need to build the cabinet 

(translation). We will first start with the 

surroundings of the cabinet (start codon - 

initiation), then we will put in the shelves 

(additions - elongation), and lastly finish with 

the doors (stop codon - termination)
