YOU'RE GUILTY!
"YOU'RE GUILTY!" says Justice Kavanaugh. Now lets go back and see how we got here.

It all started at the basketball court. These two mascots had an argument over who was a better mascot. The spartan threw hands, the wolverine threw claws. The police came to break it up. After 5 days they were sent to the district court.

It was taken to the district court. There are 91 of them and they are the only court to follow original jurisdiction. Original jurisdiction is when the court hears a case for the first time. Most court cases are finished at the District Courts and most cases are either person V person or a crime committed.
At the district court they were wondering what to charge the mascot with. They couldn't decide whether to charge the MSU mascot with mascot abuse on the wolverine. They decided on not guilty on 3 counts of mascot abuse. The wolverine wanted another trial. Sparty wanted an attorney but didn't have enough money. He then was supplied one thanks to the 6th amendment.
Appellate court is the 2nd court. It is the court that reviews the trial that the person on trial didn't like the decision in district court. The appellate court doesn't hear any evidence and usually just determine whether the court made the correct legal decisions. The Appellate court was founded in 1789.
At the Appellate Court the justices were struggling to decide. They didn't know if it was mascot abuse or not. They decided to keep it the same as the District Court which was not guilty on 3 accounts of mascot abuse. The judges then sent a writ of certai to the Suprememe Court
