Unexpected company

It was an early summer morning.

All of the animals were asleep...

...all but Charles the little sheep.

He couldn't rest, knowing that they had a whole mysterious forest next door.

He had always been curious about going to the woods, and this was his one shot at exploring it.

He ran into the forest and was amazed when he saw hundreds upon hundreds of trees.

Whoa!

He walked further and further in, until he finally stopped at a pond.

Where

am I?

Just as Charles turned around he heard a splash from behind, and a toad poked his head out from the water.

"Are you lost little sheep?" The toad asked.

"Yes, I really messed up this time." Said Charles.

"Well, that's too bad." The toad responded.

Grumpy ol' Mr. Toad sure wasn't helpful, Charles thought as he shambled back off into the woods.

Charles was lucky enough to meet Iggy the owl.

"Hello madame, do you know where the field is?" Charles asked Iggy the owl.

"Well of course I do! This path will take you there." She responded.

As he strolled, walked, and wandered, Charles started to become less convinced that he was on the right path.

"Good day sir, could you tell me if this is the right way to the field?" Asked Charles.

"Oh no, this isn't the right way. Just follow me to the field." The fox replied.

Eventually, they reached a fox den dug out in a tiny hill.

"Why are we here?" Charles asked.

"Oh sorry. I live here, I just have go get some food, and I'll be right back." Answered the fox.

What Charles did not know was that there was another way out from the fox den. The fox figured he could use it to sneak up on Charles.

He snuck around the corner and leapt towards Charles. Instead of landing next to the little sheep, he fell into a trap dug by hunters.

Aaaarrrgh!
