If you haven't heard Of a video game, you have a LOT of catching up to do. The first arcade game to be released was computer space released in 1971. Computers were around back then but this was new technology. Many more arcade games came after such as the famous Pac-Man, Galaga, and even Frogger! Arcades became very popular in the 1970'S and were a great source of entertainment!

The N.E.S didn't just have 2 player games, it had multiple 4 player games! The N.E.S System has sold over 61 Million copies today!

Video games were rising above almost everything! Millions of games were sold and millions of consoles were being sold as well!

Many Gaming companies have struck it rich making over 830,00 USD today! and selling so many games around the globe!

The next big gaming console was the N.E.S or the Nintendo entertainment system. The N.E.S came out in 1985 and it had Many famous games such as The legend of Zelda, Tetris, Punch out, and the well known Mario bros. The Mario Bros series today has sold over 40 Million copies! it was the biggest game franchise ever! The N.E.S had Multipliplayer games as well! While the Arcade machines had introduced 2 player games the N.E.S took it a step further!

Many Popular games today such as Undertale, Deltarune, Terraria, Geometry dash, Fortnite, etc are more advanced in gameplay and graphics but, many classic games are still played such as Pac-Man, Galaga, Frogger, And the most popular N64 Game Mario 64. Many people search the web for these games as they become more scarce because they usually stop making copies of old games when new consoles come out.

Many gaming companies had very big rivalries such as Xbox's Microsoft, and Playstation's Sony. Games were rising in popularity and were trending on many different sites.

Youtube Youtube was a site for online video and many gamer's posted videos of them playing games

People that used youtube and posted videos were called "Youtubers". Many Yputubers have made millions of dollars with one of the biggest making 18 Million dollars a year! People that played these games were called Gamers.

Gamers came up of a way to play a game differently, this was called "Speedrunning"

Speedrunning

Speedrunning was essentially beating a game as quickly as possible. The way to speedrun and the rules vary on how you want to do it. The most popular category of speedrunning is Any%. Any% means you get to the end of the game by any means necessary. You can use exploits and glitches to beat the game as fast as possible

The other way to speedrun is Any% Glitchless. This is almost the same as Any% except glitches aren't allowed. One of the most infamous games to speedrun back then was Mario 64. When it came to M64 Any% varied in many different ways. Originally for M64 there were 2 categories of speedrunning 70 Star and 120 Star. To beat the game you were required to have at least 70 stars out of the 120 star total. People would either get all the stars or just the ones needed.
