HISTORY OF TENNIS
Over the Years
Tennis dates back to the 12th century in France. It is more popular in the 20th century than it has ever been. This is because a Londoner Major Walter Wingfield, invented a game called Sphairistikè (Greek for "playing ball").
Wingfield's game was played on an hourglass-shaped court and because of this, it created a sensation in Europe, the United States, and even China.

The Types of Tennis Courts
Which is the best?
There are many different types of tennis courts people like to play on. For example, the most common courts are the hard courts. The hard courts are usually at public places such as the park. The ball bounces differently depending on the type of court and how cold or wet the court is. The clay courts are very different from the hard courts. You are able to slide easily on clay. If the ball hits the line on clay, there is no telling where it is going. The red clay courts are made out of pure clay, and the gray clay courts are made out of a rock in West Virgina.

Rules of Tennis:
- 1. You get two serves per point.
- 2. The scoring goes 15,30,40 game.
- 3. There are 6 games in a set.
- 4. Men play best of 5 sets.
- 5. Women play best of 3 sets.
6. You switch sides of the court after every odd point.
7.You spin the racket to see who serves first.
8.Who ever lost the spin gets to pick what side they are on.

Famous Tennis Players
One famous tennis player is Rafael Nadal. He is the second best player in the world right behind Novak Djokovic. Even though Nadal is not the best in the world, he is one if the most famous. He has his own tennis brand.
