There are many kinds of parents in the world around us, and some parents believe in practicing religion, while others do not. Some of the different types of parents are called attached parents, authoritarian parents, authoritative parents, and permissive parents.

Maggie's parents held her a lot when she was a baby. Her mother breastfed her when she was hungry, instead of feeding her a bottle. Now that Maggie is older, they cuddle with her often, and even sleep with her in the bed. When she needs something, they are quick to help her in any way that they can, while showing much love and admiration. Maggie's parents have an attachment style of parenting.

Maggie and her parents also wear clothing together, called hijabs, that represents their religion and when they go out of their home, Maggie and her mother always cover their heads with scarves. They go to church together on Fridays, and have prayer together throughout the day.

John's parents are warm and loving to him at all times, and they appreciate his opinion about things, like the choices that are made. They also have rules that he must follow, such as doing the chores. If he does not follow the rules, he will have reasonable consequences. They expect him to do well, and always help him to succeed. When John needs something, they are quick to give him a helping hand, and enjoy listening to him about his feelings and thoughts. John's parents have an authoritative parenting style.
John likes to go to church with his parents on Sunday, but he also goes to Sunday School with the other kids, while the parents attend church with the other adults. John and his family also pray daily and read Bible book stories often.

Sarah's parents expect her to be obedient at all times, and when she does not follow the strict rules, she will have strict consequences and might even get yelled at. Her parents always tell her that they know what is best for her, so it does not really matter about her opinion of things that she is told to do. They do not like to do a lot of explaining and would like her to mostly do things on her own. Sarah's parents have an authoritarian parenting style.

Sarah and her parents attend meetings twice a week in a place called The Kingdom Hall, where they worship together. Her family does not believe in celebrating holidays or birthdays, and she is not allowed to play on sporting teams. Sarah and her parents can not salute the National Flag or sing "The National Anthem," because of their religious beliefs.
