Dedicated to Mrs. Igo

Albinism is a genetic disorder which causes loss of pigment and skin. This disorder is an autosomal recessive pattern.
Symptoms include sensitivity to sunlight, lazy eye, pale skin, white hair, and or blurred vision. Albinism makes a huge impact on not only how people look but their eyesight. People with this rare disease have a larger chance of getting skin cancer due to such sensitive skin.
In albinism, genetic changes may cause a person to have pale skin and hair. Albinism genetically occurs by being passed down by a mother who carries one mutated X gene to her son by X-linked recessive inheritance.

In some cases, albinism can be affected environmentally by the sun. Due to loss of pigment, there is no protection for the person's skin. Yes, people with albinism can go outside and enjoy sunlight but they will have to wear proper sun block.

Worldwide approximately 1 in 20,000 people are born with all different types of albinism.
Albinism is in different ethnic groups but sources don’t say any specifically.

There is no cure for albinism but some treatments can reduce eye problems and there are ways to protect skin from sunlight. To reduce eye conditions you can have extraocular muscle surgery.

Having albinism doesn't normally affect the lifespan. Although, people with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome lives can be shortened by lung disease. (it is a syndrome sometimes followed by albinism.)
