Dedicated to our teacher Mrs. Eifler for letting us do this awesome project in which we can make a book.

Cornelius was born on May 27,1794 in Port Richmond.
His parents names were Cornelius and Phebe Hand Vanderbilt.
When he was 11 years old he left school to work for his dad with steamboats.
When he was 70 years old he wanted his main focus to be the railroad.

Before they had trains and
expanded railroads they had to take a long and risky journey on a boat that could sink.

People needed a new and faster way of travel from place to place, so the railroads started becoming popular.

He bought out the New York, Harlem, and Hudson Line and then went after the New York Central Railroad.
