A long time ago before snake's tongues were forked, snake was crawling on the ground like snakes do now. He was searching for fruit and berries to eat. He also liked to run around the field. Fruit and berries were rare on his Island.

Mouse also liked to eat fruit and berries. So he came up with a plan so he could have all the fruit and berries to himself.

Mwahahahahah

Mouse was rubbing two stones together to sharpen them, but why? Was it all part of mouses mysterious plan?

Snake gave up on looking and decided on another food. He went to rabbits den to try some carrots

Dun Dun Dun!!

Snake knocked on Rabbits door. "What do you want?" asked Rabbit politely.

"May I try a carrot?" Snake asked. Rabbit was kind so she let him try a carrot. "YUCK!" "these are disgusting"!

"sorry" said Rabbit " I tried". "Thats fine" said snake "thanks anyway"

Snake sadly walked away. As he was walking he thought about trying another food. So he went to Chameleon to ask him to try some of his bugs. Then he thought that was a bad idea because poor Chameleon did not get much sleep lately, So he felt a little drowsy and grumpy but he decided to give it a try.

When he came to chameleons house he knocked on the door. "Come in" chameleon groaned. "Are you okay?" asked snake. I feel sick, and I cant fall asleep. "I'm sorry" said Snake" May I have a bug?" "No, sorry" said chameleon

"Please?" snake begged.

"On one condition, if you sing me a lullaby you can have a bug from my jar over there

Snake was too scared to sing but he did it anyway. Once chameleon was asleep, Snake reached out and grabbed a bug out of a jar. "Blech!" it tasted disgusting.

"I'll never find something to eat" snake whined hopelessly. Then, he walked away. Snake could barely walk because he was beginning to starve.

He felt so weak he passed out and woke up laying in the middle of the savanna. He lye there on the ground thinking of what to do.

Mouse was also feeling a little dizzy. Then a brilliant idea came to snake. "I will go to hawk and ride on his back so it will be easier to search for fruit and berries
