In Asheville, North Carolina deep in the woods lived a woodcutter, his wife, and two children named Hansel and Gretel. On a hot summer day, Hansel and Gretel decided to go outside and play tag.

Back at the cabin the woodcutter and his wife were discussing the test they were gonna put their two children through.

"What is this test suppose to show?” the wife asked

“This test is to show Hansel and Gretel’s bravery, and if they pass they get the dog they have always wanted,” he replied.

“How about we go get the children and take them deep into the woods?”

" I can't wait to see if the kids pass the test," the wife stated.

" Yeah I know how much they have been wanting a dog," the woodcutter replied.

The woodcutter and his wife walked outside to get the children, but little did they know the children were not there.

“Hansel slow down, I’m getting tired,” Gretel said.

Hansel stopped and looked at his surroundings.

And then said," “Wait!! Where are we?”

The two then looked around and saw how creepy and mysterious the woods were. There were tall bare trees surrounding them, and the fog was so thick that they could barely see the path ahead of them. They tried to find their way back but got tired and fell asleep against a tree. When they woke up the sun was starting to set.

Hansel!!

Gretel!!

“Where are the kids?” the wife exclaimed.

“Last time I saw them they were outside playing,” the woodcutter replied.

“HANSEL!!”

“GRETEL!!”

The two parents looked for their children all night, but could not find them.

Hansel wakes up and sees that Gretel is still sleeping and tries to wake her up.

“Gretel, Gretel wake up.”

Gretel wakes up and begins crying and said,

“How are we ever to get out of the woods?”

“Wait a second I think I see something in the distance.”

“I think I smell maple syrup.”
