Hey man.
Hey dude what are you doing here?

I'm here to get my driver's license today.
But, this is the U.S. Capital.

What do you mean? I thought the Government has the all the powers of the country.
That isn't true. The government does have power, but the states also have some power.

So I can't get a drivers license here?
The government can make laws for the country, but the states can also make laws for themselves. This is why driving laws are different in some states.

No, you can go to your local DMV for that. The states are responsible for thing's like a driver's license, marriage laws or providing public education.
If they can do all that, what does the government do?

The government is in charge of the jobs that would highly impact the whole country. They do things like print money, maintain the army and deal with foreign affairs.
Oh okay. Wait, are there any powers that are they share at all?

There are some. Both have the power to make laws and collect taxes for example.
Okay

There are even powers that neither can have. Some of those powers would be tax exports and passing bills of attainder.
Really?
