Beliefs of The Byzantines
The Byzantine empire were mostly made out of Christians, which were divided in a way back then. Churches at first were The Orthodox, The Catholic and now The Roman Catholic. Byzantines considered themselves as Romans (since they were a part of the Roman Empire), but later accepted Greek and Christian Culture. Christian Orthodoxy was a main part of Byzantine Religion, as their architecture was vivid and was managed to be mixed with the Roman, Greek, and Christian arts.
Imports,Exports, and Money
The Byzantines had many ways to make money. They used silver and gold coins to trade as well as foods such as wheat and honey. They imported items such as olive oil, wine, wheat, honey, and fish sauce.
The Wealthy and The Poor
The Byzantine Empire had three types of people: The rich citizens, the normal people and the poor people.
The rich citizens where the emperor and wealthy landowning families. The rich citizens received more respect, more power and owned most of the land.
The normal people did not have as much wealth as the rich citizens. The normal people usually worked as merchants, artisans, government employees.
The poor people had little rights, they did not have an identity and they where disrespected by the rich and normal people. The poor people where underpaid and they did not own property.
