To my pap who passed away

Every Saturday morning, I would wake up in my grandparents' bed. I would yawn and climb out of the thick noisy sheets. I grabbed my clothes and toothbrush out of my bag and would get ready. After I was ready, I walked downstairs to see my pap in his favorite chair watching television, my grandma would already be at work. My pap and I would watch television for a little, then we would head out for our normal “together” restaurant, Eat’n Park. I would get my favorite food, pancakes, bacon, and eggs, with a side of juicy grapes. He would get his favorite foods, he liked and tasted varieties of food.
My pap and grandma were going through their normal day. My pap relaxing in his chair and watching television and listening to his police radio. My grandma working next door at her hair salon.
My mom, dad, sister, brother, and I were going through our normal day too. My parents at work and us kids at school.

All of a sudden, something happened to my pap, he had a pancreatitis attack. He went to the Somerset hospital.
Everyone was in deep depression and talking to others with a quiet shaky voice.
After I got home, my parents were there. My pap was still at the hospital.
“He is being kept overnight,” said my mom, “I am going to see him later.”
“Can I come with you when you go?” asked my sister, Skyler, looking up from her homework.
“We will see how he is during that time.” answered my mom while Skyler looked back down at her homework.

After two hours went by my mom and Skyler left. It was just my dad, Colin, and I eating dinner.
It was almost 9:00pm now. It was as dark as a cave outside. It's been four hours since my mom and Skyler left. My mom texted my dad everything that happened, things the nurse would say about what was going on.
When the next morning came my dad yelled up the stairs to me and my brother. “Colin and Erin, wake up, get dressed, and come downstairs.” screamed my dad as his voice cracked. Me and my brother woke up and did as my dad said to do. We got to the top of the steps at the same time and looked at each other once before going downstairs. When we got downstairs, we both looked at my dad, who was crying. He gave me and my brother hugs, then he knelt down beside us, still holding us, and he explained why he was crying, “This morning pap Jack had passed away.”
Three days have gone by since he passed away. Today is his funeral and all of his close family was there, his friends were going to show up later.
Everyone was there and I was walking up to his coffin when a burst of tears filled my eyes. I got to his coffin and held his stiff cold hand. As I was still holding his hand, I started to talk through my tears. “Why did you have to go?” I asked him, thinking he could answer me somehow.
We had tons of great memories together. I told pap about different stuff. I told him heart-warming and heart-breaking memories. After I told him about some memories, I said my goodbye.
Everyone was emotional the rest of the day at the funeral home. At this time, people started to leave including me. The whole way home I thought to myself about how he was in a better place with no pain. I missed him a lot, but I was just happy I got to say goodbye.

I was depressed that I lost my pap but him having no pain made me extremely happy! I learned that saying goodbye to loved ones is very tough and emotional. I hope when someone else loses a loved one that they get to say goodbye and that they always remember that loved one, even if you get teary when you remember.
