Once upon a time, there was a raindrop named 

Sparky. Sparky lived in Lake Michigan with his 

mother, father, and two older brothers.

One day, Sparky's mother announced to the 

family that they were going on a vacation. 

Sparky's brothers were so excited, but Sparky 

was scared and nervous. 

Sparky's father explained to him that they were 

coming home soon, they were just going on a 

journey called the hydrologic cycle. His older 

brothers had experienced this before and told him 

not to worry!

On a sunny day, Sparky and his whole family began 

to heat up. The whole family rose to the clouds 

through the process of evaporation. Sparky 

noticed that he and his family had become water 

vapors during this process, and they were going to 

make a stop in the clouds. 

Sparky was amazed at what had happened! He 

thought that he could like his home in the clouds. 

After a long day of travel, it was time for bed for 

the Droplet family.

While everyone else was fast asleep, Sparky was 

shivering because he was so cold. He looked down 

to see that he had become a snowflake! He went to 

wake up his family to see that his mother and 

father had turned into snowflakes too! 

"It's okay Sparky. This is just another step in our 

journey!" consoled his mother. "We must go 

through deposition in   order to return back to our 

home," she said. 

Don't be afraid! 

The next morning, Sparky's brothers, Drip and 

Drop, came in the room. Sparky was shocked by 

what he saw. His brothers had returned back to 

water drops! "The process we went through was a 

little different from yours, Sparky," said Drip. "We 

went through condensation to get back to our 

natural form," Drop added. 

"Everyone say your goodbyes! It's time to split up. 

Precipitation is about to take place!" exclaimed 

father Droplet. Because they were in different 

forms of liquid, Sparky and his parents would be 

traveling to a different place than his brothers.
