One bright afternoon a forest fire began in the woods near Miles' home.

"What should I do?"

Miles finds his friend Amy just in time on the other side of his house. He asks her what he should about the forest being on fire.

The trees have quickly burned down to their trunks. There is no life left near Miles' home. Secondary succession has begun in the forest.

About a year after the forest fire ended, life began to reappear near his home again.

Finally after 3 years of waiting Miles began to see grasses and flowers emerge from the forest floor.

"Woo hoo, I love flowers!"

Many years later Miles and Amy reunite near Miles' childhood home. They experience the amazing regrowth of the forest they loved throughout their entire childhoods.

Wow! My great grandpa was right, these trees are huge!"

A century after the forest fire burned everything around Miles' home, life has returned. The forest is even more magnificent then it was before.
