Rose In Concrete
Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete
Proving nature's laws wrong it learned 2 walk without having feet
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams it learned 2 breath fresh air
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else even cared

I am a lover of fantasy
I wonder if there are worlds other than ours
I hear stories of other people and creatures
I see different dimensions of what could be
I want magic of my own
I am a protector of now
I pretend not to be apart of this generation
I feel others get caught in technology

I worry there will be no more green left for my children to see
I cry for the billions dead by our hands for our benefit
I am aware of reality
I understand not everything can be achieved
I say more than I can do
I dream of a better presence
I try to grasp unfathomable things
I hope for the future
I am a sorceress of fantasy in reality

Sorceress
"Rose in Concrete" is a poem by Tupac Shackut. I feel that his poem is a metaphor comparing a person, or him, to a rose. He describes the way a rose grew from the concrete and did things that know one thought it could. Then in his last line he goes on to say "when no else even cared" probably comparing him having experiences and accomplishments in life before people started to notice him. The main poetic device i found in "Rose in Concrete" is personification; when he says the rose learned to walk and can have dreams. I like this poem because it is an overall testament to life, where people do amazing things everyday that go unnoticed.

"Sorceress" is an I am poem, and is one of my favorite poem that I have written. "Sorceress"is a rough explanation of my brain when it is daydreaming then I sapped back to reality. This
poem is part dreams, part books, and everything that I love about myself. Some of the poetic devices include alliteration, different dimensions, and Oxymoron, grasp unfathomable things.
Death of a child
At last, refuge
All night I wept
Clutching at childhood like slowly spreading sound that left all at once
Now it is dawn
Toward the east color leaks
Rosy-fingered then orange
A few birds are singing
Light flooding the garden and the woods edge
Golden light
Blue sky
Vibrant colors in their places
Trumpet vines
Roses
White Salvia
Marigolds
Grass shimmers like glass
The sun is up
I close my eyes
Again, just for a moment
memories rise
Breathing
Shining
Singing
Laughing
Silence
Nothing
No heartbeats
No blood moves
No breath inflates my lungs
Nothing
Silence

"Death of a Child" is my found poem. All of the words in this poem are from a passage in The Time Traverlers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. When writing this we had to create a poem written only with words found in that passage. "Death of a Child" is about a woman kind of going crazy, whale trying to remember everything that was good in her life, and in the end she takes her life. Some of the poetic devices in this poem are alliteration, slowly spreading; and similes, shimmers like glass. I like this poem because it has a flow of dark to bright back to dark.

"Star" is a choral poem which means the poem is written to be read out loud by two people. I wrote this poem with a partner, and we kind of picked a topic and started writing. The poem is about the life of a star that is not the sun. poetic devices in "Star" are feminine rhymes: shinning, warming, and helping; and similes, like the sun.

There once was a queen with much to gain
For her subjects she needed to feign
So she had people laugh
On her behalf
And everything she wanted she obtained

Who fears zombies, horrible endings, and a dying earth
