My name s Arife ,my friends's name Benjamin. We werw so excited. Because we were going to Amstrdam.
Benjamin was an exchange student from Amsterdam.
During his time in our country, we hosted him in our home, and he joined courses in our school, and now I am going to
Amsterdam with him as an exchange student. This was my first time traveling to another country. I was really excited about it.
I was wondering Amsterdam city. Before my trip, I made a research about the city.
I learned that the streets were narrow and there were large and small water canals around the city. And canal houses were world famous.Since these canal houses are not suitable for transportation , they have their own pulley systems. I could not wait to see all of these things. We were going to go to Amsterdam with airplane.Although that I took a flight before, this was my first time going to a far country.
After a nice trip, Benjamin and his family welcomed me at the airport. I was looking around while crossing narrow streets of the city. Meanwhile, Benjamin was making plans for tomorrow.
- Arife, you obviously made pretty research before come, tell me what makes you so excited and curious?
+ Yeah, I'm doing the research right. I am really curious about the roller system used in Amsterdam houses.
- ‘Then you will have the opportunity to see and examine them tomorrow with your own eyes.’ said Benjamin.

Arife lived in the sadness of being away from the family while having the excitement of being in another country. Because this city was built on the water excited arifeyi was a city. Arife had a lot more to learn about these houses. On the way they reached home with Benjamin. I spent the night there in the morning. It was time.

After breakfast, Benjamin and Arife passed by alleys. Arife was getting excited but also did not want to ruin Benjamin's travel plan. After thay went to Amsterdam museums, they got on the sandal which Benjamin's father rented and started passing through the canals. Arife's excitement was increasing by seeing these old buildings and was asking questions about them. Benjamin was trying to answer thos questions in the best way he can.

Benjamin started telling me. As Benjamin recounts, A between the days he was listening and listening. Then something stuck to her eye.In fact, he had the opportunity to see the information he had learned as a result of his intensive research. He saw a house on a canal just ahead. The first thing he saw in front of the house, he thought, would be the roller system. Not sure, but asked Benjamin what is this? He said. Benjamin responded with a light smile. As you might have guessed, he heard an answer called a pulley system. Arife is even more excited. He wanted to study with wonder how the reel system works.Benjamin started to tell in turn.
The presence of the roller system in the houses is about the conditions of the period when the houses were built. At that time ,the lands on the Canal had very expensive prices and the taxes of the canal. Therefore, the houses were long, narrow;ın other words, they were compressed.
It sould be guite expensive ,Arife laughed.Benjamin smiled ,looking at the bright glows of the sun on the canal,he continued:
-The livelihood of the period was trade and in this regard the channel was very buys. For that reason, the owners of the houses were also used as warehouses. The first floors of the houses were built higher than the ground to protect the buildings from damages during the floods. The first floors of the houses were used as a small shop, while the upper floors were usedas storage space for high guality merchandises.
