Thank you for growing my love for astronomy and sparking my interest in writing children's books.

Piper was a girl who had a big imagination. She loved talking to her grandfather, Neil, about outer space. Neil was a college professor and knew a lot about outer space.

One day, Piper came across her grandfather's textbooks sitting on her kitchen counter. She was drawn in by the picture of the alien and decided to look through the books.

In the books, Piper found a lot of information about the Moon. Her grandfather seemed to be investigating why the appearance of the Moon changed from the perspective of Earth so often. She wondered why Neil was so interested in the Moon, just like she was.

Piper decided to take a notebook outside and investigate the Moon herself. She was also interested in the Moon and wanted to help her grandfather finish his investigation. She noticed that the Moon looked different than she last remembered, too.

For the next couple of nights, Piper dedicated her time to investigating the Moon. She wanted to see the Moon's appearance from Earth change each night with her own eyes. She always had her notebook in hand, drawing how she saw the Moon, and even brought out her mini telescope that her grandfather bought her for her birthday.
After spending about a month on her investigation, Piper thought that she had witnessed the Moon's full cycle. The Moon finally looked the same as it did on the first night of her investigation. From her grandfather's notebooks, she knew that she could only see the Moon at night because of the Earth's rotation. She had a feeling that the appearance of the Moon from Earth changed because of the same reason.
