Chapter 1: The Prelude Page 2
Today, we are going to be talking about one of the most influential events in United States History: The American Civil War. In this Civil War people from the North and the South, with the North coming to be victorious. However, before we move on let's talk about what a Civil War is. A Civil War is a war that is fought between people of the same country. In the American Civil War, people from the same country fought against each other due to slavery. Some of the other reasons, a Civil War might happen are due to opposing viewpoints, governmental decisions and political standpoints. Now that we have cleared what a Civil War is and what causes it, let's move on and ramble through this choose your own adventure story.

Chapter 2: Your Identity Page 4
You are a 21 year old man. The date is October 25th, 1849, and tension is rising in your city. Choose the identity you want to go along with for the course of this story below...
If you want to be a white Slave owner that is living in Texas, with 23 slaves on a cotton plantation, move on to page 6
If you want to be a free African American man that is moving from Missouri to Illinois, move on to page 8
Chapter 3: The Story Page 6
Now that you are a white slave owner on a plantation with 23 slaves, let's talk more about your background. You have been owning slaves since 1847, and you are rich due to your cotton plantation. However, you have no non-slave workers, and at any time, if the slaves were to escape you could lose all of your crops. Abolitionists like Harriet Tubman, are helping your slaves escape slavery. Your slaves are already tired of you and they have started to revolt. Now it is time to make a decision:
If you want to keep the slaves you have, move to page 10
If you want to go to nearby slave auction and get new slaves, go to page 12
Chapter 3: The Story Page 8
You are a runaway slave running from Missouri to Illinois. After, abolitionists like Harriet Tubman helped you escape slavery, you are finally free. You still remember your slave friends back in Missouri. After 7 years of working as a blacksmith, you stumble upon a newspaper ad about a fellow slave Dred Scott. It says that he is suing for his freedom, and you are excited to see one of your friends to have the chance to escape slavery. However, this increases tension between the North and the South since the idea of sectionalism and the divide of slavery becomes more apparent. As Dred sues for freedom, the North supports him but the South strongly denies him.

Chapter 3: The Story Page 10
In 1850, you decided to keep your slaves and now you are trying to make them remain with you. And, at the same time, the government implements the Fugitve Slave Act. This act forces citizens to capture runaway slaves for a monetary reward. There are signs posted around your city forcing you to capture runaway slaves. However, this act causes a lot more tension between the North and South, and the North was outraged that they had to indirectly support slavery. It is your decision now, on how you want to continue the story:
If you want to capture runaway slaves, move to page 18
If you do not want to capture runaway slaves due to you thinking it is unethical, move to page 14
Chapter 3: The Story Page 12
Now that you have decided that you want to get additional slaves, you head off to the nearest slave auction. Children are sold for 500, women for 800 and men for 1000 dollars. However, you are only looking at men to work for you at the cotton plantation. You inspect each of the slaves making sure they don't have a scar on their back which symbolizes them wanting to escape their owner. After a lot of debating, you buy 2 new African American men, who immediately start working at your cotton plantation. Your slaves stay with you and your cotton plantation booms in the next couple of years. However, as 1860 comes by you understand that this peaceful life was going to come to an end. It was time to select a new president:

Now that you have decided to not follow the unethical way of following the Fugitive Slave Act, you decide to switch your viewpoints on African Americans. After you hear how much torture and brutality African Americans face during slavery, you want to support them. Therefore you set up posters, letting the African Americans in your city know that people are trying to capture them. These posters help many African Americans out, and you became an idol to some African Americans as you indirectly saved their life. However, the local slavery-supporters do not believe this, and unfortunately attack you at night leading to your death, as you did not follow the laws that were enforced by the Fugitve Slave Act.

Chapter 3: The Story Page 16
After making a risky journey on a train, you entered Virginia, but you are scared that people might think you are a slave. Therefore, you have your legal documents to protect you. You think you are going to have a peaceful life working as a miner, with no tension. However, one man, John Brown who believes he is the one that is chosen by god to abolish slavery raids the federal arsenal close to your home. After the raid, the entire city and the South is outraged, and the tension between the North and the South is increased as any accommodations or compromise between the North and South are now inevitable. It is time to make a decision:

Chapter 3: The Story Page 18
Since you have decided to capture runaway slaves, you decide to do so. Complying with the law to capture runaway slaves, you see that you have to find an African American man named Nelson and there are different increments of the monetary prize of where you found him. However, you are so tired after one day, so you just accuse some random African American of being a slave. Even when the free African American man shows his legal documents proving he's free, the Judge who wants an extra 5 dollars for saying he is a slave accuses him of being a slave. Not only this man, but a lot of African Americans you knew were falsely accused into slavery. Now you must fast-forward into another time period:
