the Silver Queen Jewel

Once upon a time there was a jewel shop that was
the home to one of the biggest jewels in the world,
the Silver Queen. There was a man who really wanted
that jewel. His name was Nalp Live.
Nalp lived in a small town quite close to the shop
actually.

The next morning when he went
to do the grocery shopping he
saw a sign in a window asking
for "Jeweller's Shop Display
Makers". This was his chance to
get that famous gem -
"The Silver Queen".

Nalp ran home excitedly, forgetting to do his
shopping and started organising his gem collection.
He was pondering what he should call his precious
array of stones.
After six and a half minutes he decided to call them
the Cam-Gems. He decided to hide cameras inside
the gems but he must remember to make the
cameras invisible.

After a good night's rest, Nalp set to work in his
laboratory. "The cameras are super easy," thought
Nalp, but when he got to the jewel making stage he
was having some difficulty with the shape of the
Gems. Suddenly he realised he had his jewel kit up
in the attic from his 5th birthday.

Nalp ran up the stairs, eagerly looking around madly.
"Eureka!" he cried, when he found the gem kit
through all the objects. He ran down the stairs as if
he was flying. For the next hour Nalp was sitting at
his desk, working as hard as he could. He could
practically smell the Silver Queen. He was so excited!

When he had finished Nalp set off for the jewellery
shop and presented the gems to the lady at the
counter. Suddenly he saw the Silver Queen again. It
looked much more beautiful when he was one step
closer to owning it.
The lady behind the counter asked him many
questions which he answered politely. Then she told
him to come back tomorrow. Only then would she
inform Nalp of the results.

That night Nalp could not get to sleep. He was
buzzing with excitement and anticipation. He got up
early, gulped his breakfast down and was dressed
before you could say:
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"
He raced down to the jewellery shop but,
surprisingly, no-one was there! "Where is everyone,"
Nalp wondered. No-one was there, because it was so
early.

Finally, the shopkeeper arrived and was amused at
how excited Nalp was. She let Nalp into the shop.
Unfortunately though, Nalp had to wait for the other
applicants.
Nalp was asking so many questions: for example,
"How many people signed up? Did the others have
very good jewels? What time will the other
applicants arrive?"

By 3pm all the applicants had arrived. Poor Nalp! He
had been waiting for seven hours! The shopkeeper
started to talk to the applicants.
"This competition has been very tricky, but please
congratulate Nalp Live on being chosen to work at
'Jewel Queens."

He was ecstatic! He had won. He was closer to the
Silver Queen! Much closer than before.
The second he walked through the front door, Nalp
started planning what he had to do in order to get
his hands on THAT gem.

"I'll make a big one which takes me straight back
here when I press it and I will have to make a very
sharp pointed gem too. In fact, they will all have to
point to the, wait for it, Silver Queen... so I can keep
an eye on it and see when it is most valid. Silver
Queen, be ready to come with me!" he cackled
sinisterly!

The next day Nalp set to work making the rest of his
evil collection. He had finished three by the end of
the day. Nalp was hoping to get twenty-four gems so
he did the math in his head and worked out that this
would take eight days.
"I will have to get my act together," he said.
