To the students of Avon Elementary School.

There was once a puppy named Stan that lived at a pet store... for now. He patiently awaited the day he'd finally be picked to be taken to his forever home.

But Stan was very different from the other pups. He was much calmer than they were, which caused him to often be overlooked.

He spent everyday wondering what he needed to change about himself in order to fit in with the other dogs, instead of not even being considered at all.

He tried asking the dogs that were brought in with their owners for tips, but they didn’t tell him anything he thought would actually help him.
I don't know, just try being yourself!

Stan just wanted to give up at this point. When he was himself, he always ended up overlooked, but when he tried to fit in, he seemed invisible.

But, Stan realized it was a lot easier being himself than it was pretending to be someone he's not. Plus, he'd rather be overlooked than not being seen at all.

He did everything he could to try to ignore the other dogs getting adopted, so that he would not continue to be discouraged. He knew one day, his perfect human would come and it would finally be his time to go home with them.
Little did Stan know, that "one day", would be today.
