
After World War ll, the people of America came together to fight for equality for discrimination against the African Americans. This led to the Civil Rights Movement.
Early in 1947 a man named Jakie Robinson made a big impact on baseball history. He got into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.

In the 1950's white and colored men and women were separated on the bus. The white people in the front and the colored in the back. Rosa Parks stood up for her people and eventually the Montgomery Bus Boycott was created. It allowed the different colored people to sit where ever they want on the bus.

White and colored men who took bus trips into South of America, and yelled at the bad people were called Freedom Riders. The one and only Martin Luther King Jr. supported the Freedom Riders.

On September 4, 1957, The Little Rock Nine, a group of colored students, went to an all-white high school. Them being t the school was a test of Brown v. Board of Education.

In 1964 the Freedom Summer was created by the Student Non - Violent Coordinating (SNCC) and the Congress on Racial Equality (CORE). It was to have more colored people vote in the South.

Also in 1964 the Civil Rights Acts. It basically says that everyone is equal even though they have a different race, color, religion, or gender, and was signed by President Lyndon Johnson.

A year later in 1965 the Voting Rights Act was created and also signed by President Lyndon Johnson. It basically beat all barriers that didn't allow color people to vote.

Next in Washington D.C people marched around Washington for jobs and freedom. This was called The March on Washington.
