The traditional Vietnamese dress for men is known as the Ao Dai. It is a long silk tunic with a conventional looking snug collar and is buttoned down on the left side. The Ao Dai is a symbol of purity and grace and the Vietnamese wear it in large numbers on traditional occasions such as weddings and Tet (New Year).

Ao Dai is the Vietnamese dress for women. Dresses are commonly made of silk or cotton and sandals are made of old tire rubber. The national dress for men is similar, but it is loose-fitting and shorter in length. Again, this dress is mostly worn on traditional events.
Tet, meaning ‘festival of the first day’, is the lunar New Year and the biggest festival in Vietnam. It is a celebration of renewal and hope. Hoi An holds a Full Moon Festival once a month on the eve of each full moon during, which lanterns are lit all over the city. Most Vietnamese festivals involve offerings to the spirit world, celebrations of life or commemorations of the dead.

Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism are known in Vietnam as the ‘triple religion’, and all three are prevalent in Vietnamese culture. However, Vietnam owes much of its belief system to folk tales and in the traditional sense, is one of the least religious countries in the world. Its people turn to the worship of gods, goddesses and ancestors for guidance.
Most modern Vietnamese calligraphy instead uses the Roman-character based Quốc Ngữ. On special occasions such as the Lunar New Year, people would go to a village teacher or scholar to make them a calligraphy hanging (often poetry, folk sayings or even single words). People who could not read or write also often commissioned at temple shrines.

Dan Bau, Considered as one of the most unique and attractive instruments, the sound made by the Dan Bau is extremely rustic and tunable, but can touch the bottom of the heart of every audience. The trumpet, the "Ken Bau", is commonly used in weddings, funerals, celebrations, and especially in Nha Nhac (Vietnamese Court Music).
Vietnamese Silk Painting is one of the most popular forms of art in Vietnam, favored for the mystical atmosphere that can be achieved with the medium. During the 19th and 20th centuries, French influence was absorbed into Vietnamese art and the liberal and modern use of color. Vietnamese silk paintings typically showcase the countryside, landscapes, pagodas, historical events or scenes of daily life.
