Joshua and Jonathan lived in a quiet neighborhood where everything was calm.  It was winter and they were at home building snowmen. They never thought anything scary would ever to happen them.   After they finished the snowmen, their parents asked them if they wanted to go to Adventure Land. Of course they did so off they went.

When they arrived, Joshua and Jonathan had to spin the Magic Wheel to get an invitation to one of the parks.  Both boys spun the wheel and watched with excitement as the wheel slowed down. When the wheel came to a stop, the boys held their breath to see where they would be going.  The wheel came to a stop on Monster Land. Joshua and Jonathan were excited, but they were also scared about seeing monsters.    

At Monster Land, they saw lots of monsters like alligators and zombies, but they were not really alive. At least, that is what Joshua and Jonathan thought.  They saw their cousin Emma painting a picture of a ventriloquist dummy. The dummy looked creepy because he had an evil smile and it seemed like he was looking right at the boys.  When Emma was finished, she took the painting home. She told Joshua and Jonathan to come to their house later to see where she decided to hang the painting. They agreed to come because they liked the painting, even though the creepy look and evil smile made them feel scared inside.

Before leaving, Joshua and Jonathan watched a magician named Hat Man put on a magic show.  Hat Man always chose people from the audience to be part of the show. Joshua and Jonathan hoped Hat Man would pick them and made a plan to get in the front row so they would be seen.  Their plan worked and they helped saw the magician’s assistant in half. It was an amazing moment, but Joshua and Jonathan did not know that it was a trick to get them to be part of Hat Man’s evil plan.

Unfortunately, Hat Man was not a good guy and his plan was to bring evil into the world.  Hat Man only chose Jonathan and Joshua because he knew that they had built snowmen. He wanted the snowmen to be part of his evil plan.  After the show, Hat Man gave Joshua and Jonathan two black hats used in the show. They did not know the hats would bring to life whatever they touched and turn them evil.  The boys were so excited they ran straight home and put the black hats on the snowmen. Nothing happened when they placed the hats on the snowmen, so Joshua and Jonathan did not know something frightening would happen at nighttime.
