To all of the kids with different colored backpacks!

"I'm going to be a big kid now!"

"You sure are, honey!"
There was once a little girl named
Jenny. She was so exited for school this year because she was finally going to be in the third grade!
"I'm going to be a big kid now!", Jenny exclaimed to her mom. "And I'm going to make so many new friends!"
"You sure are, honey!" her mom happily replied.

On the weekend before the first day of school, Jenny and her mom went shopping to find some school supplies. The two of them were so excited to spend the day together!

Jenny and her mom shopped all day long. She had gotten all of the supplies she needed. The only thing Jenny was missing was a backpack to put all of her things in.

"This one! This one!"
Jenny and her mom went in one last store. While they were looking around, Jenny found the perfect backpack! It was bright blue and had a black stripe down the middle.
"Mom, can I please have this one? Pretty please?", Jenny asked.
Jenny's mom agreed and bought the backpack.

It was finally the first day of school and Jenny couldn't wait to show off her new backpack. She sat near a group of girls and smiled at them, but all of the girls turned away and began to giggle. Jenny was confused.
"Was it something I did?", she thought.

Later on that day at recess Jenny tried to play with the same girls. Again, they just turned away from her and started laughing.
Jenny finally asked, "Why can't I play with you guys?"
One of the girls turned and replied, "Because this is the Orange Backpack Club, and yours is blue."
Jenny was hurt. She just wanted to make friends.
