In dedication to volunteer fire fighters everywhere.

Sarge is a working dog. He works at the fire house with fire fighters.
Today he is going to do some of his favorite things in the city.

He greets the sun early, as people arrive at the fire house. As he is looking out into the town, he sees smoke. The fire house bell rings.

The fire fighters and Sarge loaded into the fire truck.
"There was a fire, so someone called 9-1-1! We need to hurry and get to the house that is on fire!" Said Firefighter Joe.
Sarge barked and wagged his tail. The fire truck zoomed down the road with it's lights flashing.
Firefighter Ben added, "Always dial 9-1-1 if there is an emergency, Sarge." He petted Sarge and Sarge barked happily.
Smoke was all around the tall building up the road. The siren was loud as the fire truck drew closer to the fire. "Ready to put out this fire, Sarge?"
Sarge barked again as they stopped in front of the building.

There was a large crowd around the building. The firefighters and police had to make sure that people were safe and stood back. A man ran out of the building and part of his clothes was on fire!

Sarge stopped in front of the man and barked at him.
Sarge dropped to the ground and started to roll.
Firefighter Joe yelled, "Stop, Drop, and Roll!"

The man listened and stopped, dropped to the ground, and started to roll. The fire on his clothes went out!
He had some burns to his skin and so he had to go to the hospital in an ambulance.

Soon the firefighters had put the fire on the building out. The smoke was gone and the building was wet from the long hoses spraying water on them.
Sarge helped keep some people calm while they waited out side. Once everyone was safe, the firefighters talked to them about being safe.
