This book is dedicated to Siddthartha Guatama, his history on how he became the Buddha. This book is the history of Buddhism.

Once upon a time in northeastern of India a religion was born, Buddhism. This religion is now 2,500 years old and is followed by 350 million Buddhists world wide. But how did first start? Well lets find out.
Before Siddhartha was born,his mother had a dream about an elephant. This dream meant that her son was either meant to be a grate ruler or a holy man.In the year 580 BCE in the village 0f Lumbini in Nepal a prince was born. He name is Siddhartha Gautma. And for many years Siddhartha spent most of his time in his castle.
Siddhartha's father king Suddhodana wanted him to be a leader so because of that he was shield away from the suffering of life. He never got it see to sickness, aging, and death. He didn't know what they were.

Shielded from all the pain and suffering Siddhartha made use of his time by indulging in a life of pleasure. All his desires was fulfilled.








During the rainy days Shiddhartha was entertained with musicians and dancing girls, he never thought about living.
When Shiddhartha was 16 his father, drawing him closer into royal life married him to his cousin. Soon after they fell in love.
For 29 years he indulged himself in a life of pleasure, until one day Siddhartha just thought that this was not enough.

I wonder what's outside
One day Siddhartha decides to go outside and travel though his kingdom. On his journey, he meets the first of four people. He see's an old man. Siddhartha ask his attendant and was told that's change. Not everyone stays young forever.

Then up next Siddhartha see's a sick man. His not sure what it means. He asked his attended and the attended said " oh that happens to all of us, don't think just because you a prince you won't get sick.



Sickness
What is this?
You'll get sick, your father will get sick , your mother will get sick, everyone will get sick." Siddhartha starts to see that it isn't just the sick person its the whole universe.


Everyone gets sick, even you
And something happens to him he wanted to see more so he keep going out and he sees horror after horror. On Siddhartha third trip out he sees a corpse.


A dead body
What is this?

He starts to know the world for what it is, death, aging,sickness. The world that Siddhartha had been shielded from made him realize that this was his fate too.

I see now that this is my fate


On Siddhartha's fourth day outside he sees a mock . He took it as a sign that he should leave his protected life to go live as a homeless holy man.


I must live and become a holy man
So he leaves his family behind, his father, his wife, and his son Rāhula that was just born. Siddhartha goes to search the world for a way to escape the inevitability of death, old age and pain first by studying with religious men.

Goodbye father, my beautiful wife, and my son, I will miss you all
On his way out of the palace he meets Mara the tempted god of desire. " You are destined to rule a grate empire go back and worldly power would be yours" she said. Siddhartha refused and went on his way.

You are meant to rule go back and rule your empire

I will not
Siddhartha was alone in the world for first time. Along side a river he cut off his hair and started his journey of becoming a homeless holy man.
