This book is dedicated to Tallie Eisenmann, my whole world. Thank you for believing me and loving me like a sister. I love you.

Once upon a time, in the forest of Evergreen lived a dragon named Haiki. He was the only dragon in the kingdom of Quishelma, so he was very lonely, for he had no one to fly with.

His only comforts were the moon and stars during the night, and the sun and clouds during the day.
He would talk to them, hoping that they would respond, but he was met with silence day after day after day.

One day, during this daily ritual, a lone cloud in the sky took pity on Haiki and decided to respond.

Hello, dragon.
Who is it that speaks to me?

The cloud chuckled. "It is I, the cloud above."
Haiki turned his head until he was facing the cloud.
"I sense your loneliness and wish to make you my friend."

The dragon was pleased and delighted that the cloud took time out of his day to talk to him. He gratefully accepted the cloud's offer.

My name is Clyde.
Mine is Haiki.
The two became fast friends, spending every morning and afternoon together. Haiki was always sad when the cloud had to go away, but knew he would be back the next day.
