Danny was about to start his first day as a sixth grader at a new school. He was nervous about having to make new friends and being in a new environment.

Danny's mom told Danny not to worry. She knew that he would make lots of friends and would have fun.

On the first day, the teacher introduced him in front of the class. The teacher asked if anyone had any questions and a boy yelled in the back of the classroom "Why are there rips in your pants"? In that moment Danny didn't know how to reply.

He felt embarrassed and said "I fell on the sidewalk." All the kids laughed at what he said. In that moment his face turned into a tomato.

That night Danny's mom asked him how his day was. "How was your day sweetie?"

"It was okay" Danny said. "Mom, do you think we could buy new pants without rips in them?" "I'm sorry honey but you know our budget is very low right now."

"Yeah I understand."

The next day at school, Danny was playing soccer in recess. Suddenly, two kids in his class came over to him. "Hey you! Why are you always wearing the same clothes? It's getting smelly." They started to pick on the clothes that Danny was wearing! Danny didn't know what to say.

They started to pick on Danny everyday. They saw how some days Danny didn't bring a lunch to school and made fun of that. They would even go up to him in class and start making fun of his work.
