To the parents,

This book is aiming to teach your little one about the concept of honesty. Honesty is a very important value, and is something we use our entire life. Teaching a child how to be honest is an important factor in socializing them and creating relationships with others. Marcus' Mistake

Today is Marcus' first day of senior kindergarten! He is very excited to see all of his friends from last year.

Marcus hops in the car and has his Mom drive him to school. The ride feels like forever! When he finally arrives at school, he rushes out of the car. "Bye mom! Love you!" shouts Marcus.

Marcus puts his backpack in his cubby and goes to sit on the carpet with his friends. Miss Jenson, his new teacher, says that the whole morning is playtime and time to meet new friends. As soon as Marcus hears that it is playtime, he has his mind set on one thing.

He scrambles over to the play corner and goes straight to the car bin. He pulls out his FAVOURITE truck. A red, shiny pick-up truck with huge wheels. He is so happy he got there before his other classmates.

Marcus uses his imagination and scurries over to the table. He pretends the truck is jumping from a mountain onto another mountain! Suddenly, the truck slips from Marcus' hand and falls on the ground.

Marcus looks down to the ground with fear in his eyes. He sees the truck all broken on the ground! The wheel popped off, and has cracks everywhere. Trying not to cry, Marcus dashes to his cubby and hides the broken truck in his backpack. He cannot tell Miss Jenson he broke the truck! She will be so angry!

Finally, after a long and sad day at school, Marcus returns home. He storms up to his room and shuts the door. His mom wonders what is wrong. She goes to unpack Marcus' backpack, and when she opens it, she sees the broken truck at the bottom.
