The Federal Government is split up
into three different branches. The
executive, the legislative, and the
judicial.

The president is the leader of this branch. He
carries out federal laws made by the senate.
Citizens 18 and older get to vote every four years
for president. These votes are tallied by states
and form the Electoral College system. States
have the number of electoral votes which equal
the number of senators and representatives they
have. The Executive Branch effects citizens lives
today by when we vote because we have to pick
the president who will be running this branch.

The Legislative part of our government
is called Congress. They make the laws
and are split up into two groups called
the House of Representatives and the
Senate. Representatives meet together
to discuss ideas and decide if ideas (bills)
should become laws. This branch relates
to our daily lives because the laws that
the congress make are the ones that we
have to follow every day.

The Supreme Court is apart of the Judicial
Branch. They have special judges who interpret laws
according to the Constitution. These justices only hear
cases that pertain to issues related to the
Constitution. This relates to our lives today because all
lawyers refer to past and present laws (from the
Constitution) and how the judges decide the
outcomes.
