Before the 1920 the dress of the women was the traditional tight dresses with a long train trimmed with pleated ruffles, bows, and braid. these elaborate dresses were worn with hats and on them ribbons, streamers, and feathers.

In 1917 when the men went off to fight in World War 1 they left their factory jobs open. Women started working in factories and needed better working clothes. They wanted a more comfortable lifestyle.
They changed their style to more of a modern sleek design.


Their style changed to below knee length drop waist dresses with a loose, straight fit dresses, they would also have beaded evening dresses inspired by “flappers”. They usually wore these dresses with Mary Jane or T-strap heels.
