Negative body image is not only an issue in teens and adults, but has also started to impact young children as well. According to research done by Common Sense Media, over 50% of girls aged 6-8 stated that their ideal body size was smaller than their current body size. Even more, by age 7, one in four children have tried some type of dieting. My book, therefore, is an effort to promote a healthy body image in children. By celebrating all that their bodies can do, my hope is that children learn to focus on the things their bodies can do rather than their appearance.
