
Chapter 1.The beginnings of things
At the beginning they were not railway children.This text is about a family ,mother,father and children.There are three children in family:Roberta-she was always called Bobbie,
Peter-he wanted to be an ingineer and Phyllis- he is the youngest in family.They have a good mother that help they and father who was never angry.They were very happy,but they didn't know that their happy life in London was over,and they hat to live in a very different life.
One day at this family came two men,they go in other room and talk about something.
Early the next morning mother told the children that those men
did bring bad news last night, that father will be away for some time and she's very worried.Everything was horrible for some weeks.
One morning,Mother said that they have to leave our house in London, and they are going to live in the country,in a dear little whit house near a railway station.The house where they arrived was dark,there was no fire and the room was cold.
From now they will start another life.

Chapter 2.Peter and the coal
They looked in the other room,but found no supper.
Phyllis said unhappily that they can't have any supper,but Mother said that they can unpack one of the boxes.
Next morning ,children wanted to surprise their mother and get breakfast ready,but first they went to look outside.The house stood in a field near the top of a hill.They saw a railway line at the bottom of the hill.
Phyllis said that this place is much prettier than their house in London.
All day, they hepled Mother to unpack and arrange everything in the rooms,when Mother said that's enough work and
she will go and lie down .The children went to the railway station.There was a large pile of coal on one side of the station yard,A white line was marked on the wall behind the coal,near the top of the pile.
When Peter asked The Porter what is this white line.The Porter, explained what it was for:"It's to show how much coal there in the heap".
The days passed,Mother wrote stories for some money,she told that they were poor ,but the children found it dificult to believe they were because there was always enought food to eat.
One cold day when Bobbie wanted to light a fire,Mother said that they can't because coal is expensive,and Peter have an idea but he didin't tell anyone until he knows it is good idea.
He began taking some coal from the railway station,but he was cauhgt by the Porter.Peter explained that they are too poor to have a fire,then the Porter said that taking coal is still considered stealing.
DICTIONARY:
HILL-an area of land that is higher than the land around it, but not as high as a mountain
FENCE-a structure that horses must jump over in a race or a competition
WONDER-used as a polite way of asking a question or asking somebody to do something
COAL-a hard black mineral that is found below the ground and burnt to produce heat
STEAL- to take something from a person, shop, etc. without permission and without intending to return it or pay for it

1After three days Peter's birthday,his father had to go, without telling anyone.

4.They eat cold meat and apple pie for breakfast because they had not to warm food.

6.Mother didn't let them have fires in June because the coal is expensive,and they were poor.
7.The Station Master call Peter a thief because he caught Peter when he steal the coal.
8.The Station Master explained Peter that taking coal without permission is a crime from which you only suffer.
Chapter 3.The old gentleman
One morning the children waved and a hand waved back,it was holding a newspaper and it belonged to an old gentleman.This man looked pleasant ,and soon they were waving to him every morning.They pretend he knew Father,and that he was taking their love to him.
They did not to visit the station after the trouble with the coal, Peter was afraid of seeing the Station Master again,but told them to visit anytime they liked.They spent two hours with the Porter,a friendly man called Perks,he answered all their questions about trains and railways.
One day ,Mother fell ill.The doctor examined her and told the children that in order for Mother to get better, they needed to get some things for her,but they can’t buy all those things.
The next morning,Phyllis ran the old gentleman in the train and gave him a letter.
In this letter they say that their mother is ill and they can’t buy thing for her,they asked him if he can get this things,and they promise to pay when they have money.Later that evening Perks knocked on the door of their house and gave them a large box.Inside the box were all the things they had requested and some extra things for their mother.
Dictionary:
1.Scream-to give a loud, high shout, because you are hurt, frightened, excited,
2.Pretend- to behave in a particular way, in order to make other people believe something that is not true
3.Ache-to feel a continuous pain that is not severe
Why is the chapter called "The Old Gentelman" ? Is it a good title?
I think the title of the chapter "The Old Gentleman" is good because this is about the person who helped the three children when they needed things for their mother because she became ill.
Chapter 4.Bobbie's Ride
When Mother got better,the children told to their mother what they had done. Mother was very angry.She told them that they were poor but they must not tell anyone and never ask strangers to give things.
Mother will write a letter to gentleman and thank him for his kindness.
Soon it was Bobbie's birthday.Mother,Peter and Phyllis planned a surprise for her.They shouted happily:''Happy birthday,Bobbie''.Bobbie received many nice presents.Among them was Peter's broken toy engine,filled with sweets.
Bobbie was happy,and she decided to get help to mend the engine.
The next day,Bobbie went to the railway line and stood beside an engine,where the driver and a fireman were working,she addressed them, but they didn’t hear her,so she climbed on to the step of the engine.At that moment the train began to move.Bobbie fell onto a pile of coal and shouted for help.After they help her,they put her on the next train to send her home.
A few weeks later,Bobbie took Peter and Phyllis to meet the driver and fireman,Peter was pleased that his engine was fixed.
